Today we reviewed the Mondo Mecha Iron Giant. Although the movie is ultimately based on a book, there was a musical in between the two. Originally just a concept album (which included John Lee Hooker and Nina Simone, blues artists so major that you've heard of them), the musical was eventually turned into a stage show, and that's what got Warner Bros. to option the story. Anyway, what you may not have known is that Pete Townshend commissioned a music video for one of the musical's songs, "A Friend is a Friend," in 1989.
The models and effects were by Asylum Ltd., so they're the first studio to make the Iron Giant, a full decade before WB would.
