Soon Forget: Darkstalkers Anakaris

This is the latest in a series (of indefinite length and regularity) of blog posts memorializing cancelled toys. Our figure today is another from the planned mid-2000s Darkstalkers line, aka "Street Fighter with monsters."

Anakaris the mummy was shown at SDCC 2006 - in fact, if you look behind Morrigan in that photo we showed, you'll see that he was going to have flat hands in addition to the "bent back" versions with the eyes in the palms seen on this Will Harbottle prototype:

Originally planned for Series 1, Anakaris was dropped when the lineup was shuffled in an effort to draw more attention to the line. He was never announced for the revamped line, so he was seemingly cancelled even earlier than the rest of the figures were.
