ML12: Black Winter (Thor) review

Black Winter, the devourer of universes, materializes as a dark version of Thor in order to threaten the God of Thunder.

Hey, we asked how Hasbro would reuse those "Thortnite" molds, and here's the answer! The Black Winter doesn't really have a physical form, being more of a cosmic concept, but it does have the ability to show you how you will die. This form, Spooky Evil Thor, is the death he showed Galactus.

Not every part of this figure is the same as the one from Series 8. The head is the same, but a new hair sculpt has been glued into it, showing Thor's now-black locks billowing around behind him, just as in the panel where this form first appeared. Additionally, the cape is a tattered thing, molded from translucent black plastic. In the comic it was depicted more like it was fading into smoke, but this is as close as a physical toy could get. Still looks very creepy and appropriate.

Dark Thor still has a Mjolnir, but instead of being swathed in lightning like the last toy's, this one gets a large cloud of smoke pouring off its head. Nifty! The figure also includes the same hands as before, fists or open/holding, though they're painted a faded blue, matching the rest of this imaginary Thor's dark colorscheme.

The ML8 Thor had the head of the Controller Build-A-Figure, and Dark Winter Thor has the head of Zabu. It's hard to make room in the package for BAF parts when the figure itself is so large.
