Marvel Legends Madame Masque addendum

In today's Madame Masque review, yo disliked the color of the toy's face, saying it didn't look like the comics. Here, from Invincible Iron Man #1 and 2, are a few shots of the new mask in various lighting conditions:

A collage of shots of Madame Masque, showing how different her face is from the rest of her skintone.

Notice that it's always lighter than her skin.

Here's a shot of Tony contemplating the mask, proving that the intention was for it to be clear:

Tony Stark sits forlornly, staring into the eyes of Madame Masque's mask. In the back, his thumb is visible through the surface.

Short of doing the mask as a translucent piece that plugged into the toy's head, there's no way to accomplish that look on an action figure. But the least they could have done is to make sure it's not the same color as her neck:

With the mask being nearly white, she now looks like a member of Kiss.

Let's overlay that on the regular image to get a sense of how it would look:

Madame Masque

Not bad. Unfortunately, you can't even customize this yourself, unless you're very confident in your ability to work around (or re-create) that intricate gold around the eyes.

  1. Pink Parademon says:

Formless pink blob of plastic for the head, almost entirely clear plastic face plugged in, with the eyes and the gold around them used to hide the plug.

You know, the spacing might be a bit tight because of the neck socket and the hair needing to be plugged in too, but that's not a bad idea...

  2. Verd says:

    She's giving Ace Frehley.
