The Mighty Quinn

In today's review of "Arctic Trooper" Snake-Eyes, yo mentioned (off-handedly) that Snakes' friend Kwinn the Eskimo was named after a Bob Dylan song. Well, Dylan may have written it, but it's actually Manfred Mann who's famous for performing it:

Dylan, who has described the song as "a simple nursery rhyme," wrote the song in reference to Anthony Quinn, the guy who played pretty much every minority role in Hollywood for 40 years. One of those roles was Inuk, the star of 1959's The Savage Innocents (a film which may have introduced the idea that Eskimos put their elderly on an ice floe to die). Thus, Anthony Quinn, playing an Eskimo, "Quinn the Eskimo."

Now you know.
