This is the latest in a series (of indefinite length and regularity) of blog posts memorializing cancelled toys. Our figures today are N2Toys' Space Cadets.
As mentioned in today's Point of Articulation, N2 was trying to expand beyond movie licenses and into original properties, including a line of "bald women with big guns" they called Space Cadets. The first figure was shown off at Toy Fair 2001:
However, Toy Fair 2002 saw several more potential figures on display!
A promo spot in ToyFare gave names to the first series of four figures: Cupcake, Spider, Mitzy, and Lulu (notice how they tried to hide Lulu's reused gun behind the other characters.)
"N2's first homegrown license is a mix of sci-fi and Baywatch, with four gun-packin' uber-minxes. Look for the 6-inch figures later this year."
And an Entertainment Earth product listing for Series 2 gave us four more: Gretchen, Annette, Snowball, and Disco.
That does, however, leave two Cadets unnamed: an orangey one with translucent blue guns, and one in a red bodysuit who's lounging on the ground:
Of course, given what we know about Lulu, we have to wonder if any of these other characters' weapons are similarly lifted from other companies.
Well not other companies, but the tentacles on that red lady really look like they've just been taken off the N2 Matrix Sentinel
I don't get what's happening with that one. Is she designed to permanently be laying down? Is there some sort of hidden articulation to straighten out her rib cage? Is the big ball of Matrix tentacles attached to her, or just sitting on the ground behind her? Is that why she can't stand up? So many questions!
Considering it's from like 2001 it's probably the whole "articulation is less important than the sculpt since these are aDuLt coLLectIbLEs and not toys" baloney that used to be really really bad.
If you zoom in on the shelf below her ribcage, you can see the shadow of two pegs joining it to her back. So it probably would have plugged in, yes.

I like the concept. Pity it wasn't meant to be.
On the topic of the copied gun - there are only so many ways and shapes to make a giant arm gun. That combined with it bring concealed in the group shot do lend credence to the early kitbash theory mentioned.
The dual guns with the missiles on top are from Quake 2 toys,Resaurus made them,The Marine Major.
KNEW those things looked familiar! I was trying to look at old Spawn figures to find them though...
